Popcorn is a production of Zwerm and Mr Probe together with Peter Vermeersch. Co-produced by Champ d'Action, Neaux Productions en Q-O2. With support of the Flemish Government. |
It's a dilemma every musician will face from time to time: falling in love with a song that, for one reason or another, you never get to play. Zwerm and Mr Probe selected a few of their all-time favorite pop-songs. Peter Vermeersch (Flat Earth Society) arranged them and drummer Mattijs Vanderleen (Tommigun, Sunday Bell Ringers) and singer Gregory Frateur (Dez Mona) joined the group. Six composers were asked to compose a short piece, based on one of the pop-songs.
An evening with Cardiacs, Björk, Daan Janssens, Serge Verstockt, Tom Waits, Bruno Nelissen, Yannis Kyriakides, Nick Cave and Luc Houtkamp.
Popcorn was premiered at De Handelsbeurs in 2011 and subsequently performed at Holland Festival, Theater Kikker Utrecht, Jeugd & Muziek. (2011)
